Macha, Zambia

image    The first part of our trip was a visit to Macha.  Macha has a long history with the Brethren in Christ Church and MCC in Zambia.  It was the site of a mission post and subsequent mission hospital many years ago.  Over the years MCC has posted service workers and SALTer’s to this location and while quite remote, a new road has made it more easily reached.  (It is about a 4.5 hour drive from Lusaka.  You drive to Choma and then take the road north.)   We were going to visit with the newest members of our team, the Ulbrichts (Ingo, Natasha, Tobin, and Noah).

We had a great time there and due to our plans for one of the camps in Hwange falling through, we stayed longer than planned.  Cynthia will be posting something soon about our time in Macha at http://cynthiamoeller.wordpress.com/

This was my favorite sunset photo taken on the trip.  The tree on the left is called a Sausage tree due to the large sausage shaped fruit it produces.  They can weigh up to 25 pounds so beware when the fruit falls.
